Description:

Many of us think of a hospital as simply a place to go for medical care, but hospitals are increasingly becoming important partners in community development with shared goals of improving community health. Recent changes to state regulations and guidelines in Massachusetts have created new expectations and requirements for how hospitals invest in communities to improve health. Come to this workshop to learn about:

  • The MA Attorney General's revised Hospital Community Benefits Guidelines for non-profit hospitals;
  • MA Department of Public Health’s updated Determination of Need/Community Health Initiative regulations and guidance and the opportunities available to build upon these frameworks.
  • Examples of how hospitals are changing to better reflect community needs including case-studies that detail current CDC-hospital partnerships.
  • Ways to learn more about the hospital in your community and tools to engage with hospital staff.

Workshop participants will have time to learn about these current frameworks and opportunities for new partnerships and strategic investments in their communities.
